A Remarkable Convention

USconventionVideo.png

Here is a video in which Mr. William E. Davis, the Chairman of the NSA of the US discusses the recent US national convention.

Of course, as all good Baha’is you should watch and listen raptly to every word and syllable. But pay close attention to the video at the 1:24 minute mark where Davis mentions:

There’s no community on earth like that, no-one’s even close. We have more to do, we recognise that. But we will get there through encouragement, not judgement. We will get there by seeing the positives, not the negatives. We will get there by motivating people through example and by love, not by condemning or labelling. The friends respond to love.

And also pay particular attention also to the 5:00 minute mark where these remarks are found:

I’ve been asked to make some comments about the convention. They perhaps are self-evident, but I am obedient to the National Spiritual Assembly. This has been a qualitatively unique and different convention. For some of us, who have been coming — in this case, he who speaks — 25 years as a delegate. It’s been a remarkable convention. Some of us will recall conventions where Hands of the Cause, Mr Sears or Mr Khadem may have spoken and raised our hearts and gave us a new vision and got us out of our chairs, and some of us issued forth and went to the four corners of the world.

(Sigh) you know, its speeches like this that warm our hearts at Baha’i Rants and give us the energy needed to complete the full Ruhi course for the 38th time.

But, some cynical person amongst you might say, wait! this is just paying lip service to an ideal, where are the deeds?

For the enlightenment of those jaundiced minds I point out the recent letter of the NSA, which was sent to Kalimat and subsequently to all Baha’is in the US. Yes, the same one where they succinctly outline the NSA’s boycott of that publisher. Why, just read that letter ! It is simply gushing with love. A rainbow of pure love practically jumps out from the page and down your throat – atleast that’s what one especially devoted believer in Iowa reported.

As for the lofty adjectives Davis uses to describe the convention (‘qualitatively unique’, ‘different’, and ‘remarkable’) I assure you that they are all well deserved and most appropriate.

For you see, it was in this same convention that the chairperson quickly but oh, so lovingly, cut off the person who had the temerity to suggest discussion on the Kalimat boycott and he lovingly, oh, so lovingy, made the decisive move to shut down any and all similar attempts to consult on this issue.

So you see, dear cynical reader, this convention was truly ‘unique’ and ‘different’ and yes, even ‘remarkable’ for until the delegates had experienced this convention, they had the mistaken belief that the national convention is a place where Baha’is can consult on matters of national import and deliberate upon them by availing themselves of loving and frank Baha’i consultation.

We truly owe a debt of gratitude to the NSA for finally putting this myth to rest. I say this calls for taking the full Ruhi courses 39 times. Who’s with me?

I have been a Baha’i for 35 years. I have seen it all and been through it all. I watched the video. I really don’t know what to say. The disconnects in the Baha’i Faith now are really astonishing.

He asked if the service of the NSA is acceptible at the Holy Threshold. Maybe I am wrong, but my gut feeling is that it isn’t.

The Baha’i Faith is profoundly loveless at this point. It is now a system of monstrous top down coercian and bullying where all individual initiative and thought has been ruthlessly destroyed on their watch. But these people cannot seem to be able to see any of this at all? No voice can speak out at any level. No feedback can reach the top.

I have talked to many Baha’is I know over the last few years who are leaving and will now never even bother to send in a letter because they hold these people in such contempt. It is all very strange and also very sad.

These all seem to be people who can only feel “through an organization”. All human personality must be expressed “through the organizational construct”. All totalitarian ideologies seem to end on this level. All man made belief systems of total ideological committment seem to end on this level of organizational cognitive dissonance.

The “new” Baha’i Faith is in very big trouble because it is profoundly loveless. It is just an organization of endless “plans” now based on continuous “psychological martyrdom” and endless “efforting”. When none of this has anything whatsoever at all with anything spirituall.

Teaching the Teachings of Baha’u’llah to result in mass converts is child’s play. It is the easiest thing in the world. It is just a conversation about life. It is like breathing. I did it every day for years. But these people have made this pure agony. Everyone must be in agony now to “teach” the “new” Baha’i Faith.

I no longer blame these people. In a sense they are the profound victims of the lack of term limits in the Faith. I believe the rank and file in my lifetime will be held accountable in the next world for this crime against humanty that resulted in the spectacular failure of the Faith. The fact that the top leadership was never held accountable in their lifetime employment as “professional” AO cadre people.

None of this is going to work because it is profoundly loveless, unspiritual, and does not nurture human hearts or connect them to the Divine in any way. It is mechanical and profoundly thoughtless to the point of mental derangement.

The short lived Ruhi gambit is pure top down barren and lifeless idolatry and history will bear this out in spades. Who would ever join a religion that insults a person’s own God given intelligence? I ask you, who?

Only the neurotic and psychotic would join such a “religion”. People who would turn their own souls over to an organization to give them the “packaged officisl answers” in life in return. That kind of exchange of spiritual energy cannot last. It leads nowhere.

The Great Faith of Baha’u’llah is no longer about Him at all. These people made Shoghi Effendi the Supreme Manifestation of God for this World Age. Not Baha’u’llah. The rest is history. The “Plans” of the Administrative Order are now God and the sole object of worship. Not the vastness of the Cosmos. It is all truly very, very sad.

easy tiger-no need to be so mellow dramatic. The Writings have not gone any where, neither have the teachings nor the wealth of Baha’i Writings at our disposal. I don’t know a single Baha’i who has left as a result of Ruhi-who are “all these people”? Infuse your own spirit into things and takeiteasssse!

    Yo….Brother Yo!

Thanks for the advice. I will take it to heart.

But let’s see how it all looks to you in 35 years after you have taken the Ruhi full sequence of courses 100 times carefully writing in the exact same answers year after year. Let’s see how it all looks after 2/3′s of the once on fire Baha’is have left because Baha’u’llah is not part of the religion anymore even more than now in 35 more years. Let’s see how it all looks after other movements of souls far more spiritual than the Baha’is have possessed the powers of the World Age by deeds not words and have further marginalized the Baha’is in 35 more years. I’ll be gone from this world for sure by then. But I’ll try to check in on how it is going.

I hope you are right and everything is just fine in 35 more lovely years. But I doubt that it will be. Automatons cannot innovate. Nothing good can ever come from people being asked to turn over their eternal souls to an organization to control and dominate at their psychological whim.

Love is lost in the baha’i faith.
37 years a baha’i, 2 plgrimages, many baha’i summer schools, many LSA’s, many national committies.

Would Abdul Baha think of this as growth, we have lost the love he grew.

But hold on. Things may change in the future very quickly.
Faster than anyone can yet foresee.

I think the Internet itself and it’s millions of pondering minds IS the “Third Manifestation” and how that plays out in the Divine Karmic Bank Shot will make all the difference now. The cat is out of the bag. The new powers of the World Age are going to move very, very fast. It could all change at any time as people take a good, hard look at this and realize that Baha’u’llah has given them the terrible swift sword of the vote.

It is easy to see now that because the existing old guard Baha’i Faith did not loosen up the constraints on independent investigation and review in the Dialogue Magazine cosmic test of 1988 and again never reconsidered anything in the original Talisman tempest in 1994 with the sudden rise of the Internet, it does not now have the in-depth high level scholarship and subsequent many varied spiritual books in place on the shelves at Amazon to compete in the accelerating spiritual enquiry of the entire world. As Douglas MacArthur said defeat in battle is two little words “too late”. It is too late now to catch up. All those 18 years of unfettered enquiry were completely lost.

Rumi is now the best selling poet in the entire world and Baha’u’llah wrote many high level spiritual insights using many of his verses, and we have nothing to contribute in spiritual scholarship and spiritual commentary on this approach in 2006. Again, duh!

All the wide open, free enquiry spiritual books on Amazon.com are total Judgment Day upon the existing intellectually barren Baha’i Faith. A religion that now has no world class scholars, no world class writers, no world class musicians (oh Seals and Crofts – who were certainly world class – we need you again!) and no world class film makers. Zero. Zippo. Nada. No artists of any note whatsoever in the top down, micro managed, straight jacketed Administrative Order idolatry.

The Faith cannot compete with what some call “nilhilistic New Age narcissists”. I say quite to the contrary, THEY have the REAL spiritual power behind them now from the Divine Seed Vortex of the New World Age Baha’u’llah brought in the souls of individual hearts and minds is accelerating hourly while the entire straight jacketed Baha’i World is now completely dead in the water with nothing world class to offer.

Anybody here see “What the Bleep Do We Know?” It has done 30 million in business worldwide as an independent film and has gotten a lot of people thinking spiritually. I loved it!

Plus we have now actually shut down access in our own system to one of the few original independent Baha’i book distributers to add crazed internal petty squabble admin-o-centric insult to crazed internal petty squabble admin-o-centric injury ! Duh. Go figure?

And to top that, the Rote Ruhization of the Faith is the end of the road. What advanced spiritual seeker anywhere in the world would ever join a “religion” that is presented in such a way that it completely insults their God given and innate soul endowed intelligence?

A lock step presentation that in itself negates the very internal individual spiritual powers in the heart and mind liberated by the New World Age brought by the coming of Baha’u’llah’s mirrored consciousness in advancing individuals. Individual higher frequency souls being born into the world now and for at least the next 800-20,000 years! All negated by how the Faith is now presented to the entire world! Again, go figure?

The people that created this state of affairs are truly amazing human beings. It is just incredible that it all took this turn. It is all so dumb. I still can’t understand how this could have happened. These folks need to get out once in a while. Maybe catch a movie or a stage play or something. Maybe talk with someone who exists outside of their incestuous top down completely loveless cult bubble.

Every morning and evening my 67 year old illiterate Persian mother in law says her prayers from memory and then goes on her day in service. She cleans, she cooks she hand scrubs the carpets, all while singing. She is the ebodiment of service and selflessness. She won’t even eat until all are at the table. She is a constant reminder of the attitude we lack. I have been reading Memorials Of The Faithful by Abdul Baha again. Maybe you all should too. Too much whining and too little action does not a better world make.

    Dear Tryingagin,

Peace be upon you, your blessed mother, and your family.

I also put decades of faithful and steadfast service into the Baha’i Faith. I went to literally thousands of meetings and put in thousands of hours in Baha’i projects and Baha’i work. I, too, say my prayers every morning and every evening from memory. I too have read “Memorials of the Faithful” many times. I, too, have waited on people and selflessly striven to help them and put their needs before mine. I only missed voting in a District Convention once (because of sudden illness on the day of the convention) in over three decades. I took being a Baha’i very seriously because I saw it as the hope of nations.

But I have had enough of the professional “lifetime employment” clique currently running the Baha’i Faith.

In my lifetime the efforts of so many noble Baha’is I knew have been completely wasted and dissipated by the poor leadership at the top decade after decade. We need new ideas, new insights, and new patterns of finding out what is really going on at the grass roots level. We need freedom of speech and free and open discussion of all ideas. It is time for these people to go. Perhaps they can all get a good group rate at that mental hospital in Italy where Mason Remey ended his final days.

It is time for all of them to get off the stage of history before they embarrass themseleves and their family names any further for their own sakes. But they won’t. It will all go on forever and ever.

These are people who have been elected by automaton, compliant, spineless delegates elected by only 10% of the Baha’i electorate participating. How can anyone accept a mandate from that embarrassing figure and be serious and look at themselves in a mirror for 40, 50, or 60 years of service when the Faith lost 2/3′s of it’s membership on their watch?

Something is wrong and has been wrong for a long, long time. And that something is incompetent leadership. People must be held accountable for the present state of affairs on their watch.

The Faith is dying and the top down micro managed thought control “Institute Process” is going to eventually be seen as a spectacular failure and Baha’i Institutions that say it is a “success” as deluded liers.

I took Ruhi Book One (one of the worst spiritual experiences of my life) and we all know what their own Ruhi Book One says about the spiritual integrity of liers.

The Ruhization of the Faith is not the answer. Frank and open discussion is. And if that does not happen, and very, very soon, it is going to become very apparent that people like your saintly mother have been betrayed by an organization of liers.

Time will tell what is truth and what is a lie. I say the judgment of history is going to be very, very harsh. I hope I am wrong.

Please tell me, where in the world is the top down micro managed “new” ITC Baha’i Faith working? Where? Where are the real facts and not organizational propaganda that no one knows is real or not since all information about everything is controlled from the top?

Where is it working? Africa. I have also been blessed this last year to have my daughter marry a Baha’i from Ghana. where in his community, the Baha’is are ten percent of the population–which has grown using the institute process at the grassroots level.

Ruhi is just one method. It’s not the gold standard for bringing people into the Faith. The early believers didn’t have Ruhi. No one is preventing you from having old fashioned firesides in your home. (which is how I became a Baha’i 27 years ago. I am more of a follower of Abdul Baha’s advice: if each of us would focus one loving and praying for one person a year–we would double our numbers.

What are you doing, my friend to bring people into the faith?
I would love to hear your ideas–if they are really ideas and not adminstration bashing. You don’t like Ruhi. Fine. Dig another furrow and blow us all away with the garden your way will grow.

    Hello Tryingagain,

Congratulations on your daughter’s wedding. And good fortune for the Baha’is in Africa. But for me thank God the early believers did not “have Ruhi” but instead profound mystical insight as Baha’u’llah set it forth in the Kitab-I-Iqan.

I have brought many people into the Baha’i Faith over almost four decades. Now I am completely ashamed of this. I no longer teach the completely barren and unspiritual Administrative Order idolatry. I just tell people about the inner spiritually liberating teachings of Baha’u’llah. That they should read Baha’u’llah for themselves and reflect on what this all means for themselves. I believe a religion is about the mystical spiritual connection between a human soul and it’s Creator. I believe that people want love and action. Not a loveless rote habituated response in all the interactions of life.

I am glad people are free to choose their teaching methods where you live. That would be great. When I stopped going to the cluster meetings all limited resources up to that point were being put into the Ruhi McFaith here. To me it is reducing the Ocean of Baha’u’llah and the Prophets and Seers of ALL nations, peoples, and World Ages to a burger, fries, and diet coke spiritually speaking.

I do not bring people into the Administrative Order anymore to be exploited like easy marks for other people’s psychological needs. I no longer do that because I feel it is immoral to shamelessly exploit other human beings like that. I believe in individual human dignity and clearly established and policed psychological boundaries in all human interaction with groups of other people and organiztions. Especially when many of them are mentally ill.

I bring people into the consciousness of Baha’u’llah as the seed vortex person of the New World Age Cycle. That horizon is as big as the Cosmos. Whereas the horizon of the current Baha’i Administrative Order is about as big as the table top in that tiny egg shelled ceiling deliberation chamber in Haifa I helped pay for.

I once stood and prayed in that chamber while it was under raw construction in 1982 long before any UHJ member ever sat in it in it’s present finished state in their time. What I experienced there was unforgettable. It is only now all these years later that I understand it.

My current personal teaching project (which I always thought every Baha’i should have themselves) is bringing the New World Age vortex teachings and mystical Sufi insights of Baha’u’llah to the attention of American soldiers returning from Iraq and Afghanistan. These are souls the current version of the top down Baha’i Faith has completely turned it’s back on. With 2,500 dead and their grieving families and over 18,000 wounded there is plenty to keep me busy.

Best wishes to you and your family.

The current way the Baha’i Faith is being taught is a monstrous intrusion across people’s pesonal boundries by an organization that is completely unspiritual in it’s modes and methods. I will no longer be a part of this brutally invasive process after almost four decades as a Baha’i.

People’s souls are now just looked upon as so much Power Point pie chart cannon fodder by the crazed AO. I have had enough.

Believe it or not, I myself had a falling out period in my Baha’i life that not only involved the Baha’is but Baha’u’llah and God too. Nine years I seethed with bitterness and anger. Nine years I didn’t read, pray or have a spiritual thought in my head. But living in the world was a very empty place for me and so I have returned. I read with fresh eyes, I have new patience. I see the Faith as a slow growing organism–this is an organic process–not a microwave one. I’m sorry both of you have had bad experiances–I have too, believe me I used to keep a list of all the Baha’is I hated LOL. But everytime, I read the writings, I try again because that’s what Baha’u’llah would have me do because that’s what he did with his own family over and over again.

    Hi Tryingagain,

That is certainly a very beautiful sentiment you have stated and I fully appreciate what you have written here in sharing what you have gone through also. In my particular state I don’t really hate anyone, I am just emotionally exhausted by the very thought of how the Baha’i Faith operates now. I am done.

To me the Revelation of Baha’u’llah is about the connection of one’s soul to the mystery of the Creator as the Divine powers of a New World Age unfold. The higher guidance of how to function in life comes in the meditations of your own mind. It comes from the inner powers of one’s own soul in reflection on the experience of one’s journey in life. The Divine talks to a person every day this way. It is daily prayer and meditation in one’s own inner horizon. Not turning your holy and sacred soul over to an organization to do your thinking for you to parrot what other people tell you to think.

There are no clearly established and policed boundries between the individual and the Baha’i organization now. It is leading to tremendous psychological abuse as it all crushes people with tasks that are not of their own spirit. It is now an out of control apparatus of codependent enablers of this horrible coercive process at every level.

The Institutions now only reflect the need of a tiny handful of people to sleep well at night thinking they will not go to judgment in the next world (they will) because they have created a huge mass conversion machine that is going to magically produce “entry-by-troops”.

In fact, if people don’t think that it isn’t that act itself already singles them out as being a trouble maker and a soul that should be sent to the “re-education camps”. So all counter voices are being silenced at every level.

In fact, we already did experience “entry by troops” in the early 1970′s and now it is very easy to see that it was completely blown by the existing Administrative Order at that time. I know, I was there. The reality turned out that the AO was completely unprepared because it was very immature and was run by people in long time positions in their little club who were way over their heads.

If EBT does come again now, like back then the present AO has 7-10 years to show people that it can really do something in the world. People were very, very dedicated back then because they had faced war as youths. But people left after 7-10 years because they saw the amazing haplessness of the AO. I stayed all these years and tried as hard as I could. An organization has to NOT suppress human spiritual energies that are coming from the rank and file. The Baha’i Faith as an organization has never been able to do this in it’s sad 85 year history. It has always been one step forward, a thousand steps back. Why?

I think the answer is in what Dr. Ruhe said in the telecast from Haifa at the World Congress in New York City in 1992 when he spoke for the Universal House of Justice to the Congress. I was delighted to see him on the big screen as I knew him personally and thought he was one of the finest human being I had ever met. A wonderful man. What he said struck me as being quite odd at the time. I had forgotten about that feeling but recently another former Baha’i who has now left who was there also commented to me on how she felt the same strange feeling too.

He basically said something to the extent that “we should never forget that this is all about God…” I now see it as a signal to the Baha’is of the world as a warning saying something like “be careful people of the rank and file of the world and keep on your toes because there are people all around me here in Haifa at the top who do not see this as being about God at all…but about a mere organization of control over other people.”

Like he was a pilot being trotted out at the Hanoi Hilton during the Vietnam War giving a forced statement to the cameras of the world press but speaking in a secret code to his loved ones.

This was the very odd feeling I had at that moment. And this was exactly what another person recently told me she felt in that moment also who was there too.

I think Dr. Ruhe’s statement was strangely prophetic. I believe the people now leading the Baha’i Faith have been strangely cut off from contact with the Divine in their incestuous cult bubble and now manifest a sort of group speak mental illness. I cannot bear to see this so I am getting off the Titanic at South Hampton.

This is what my spirit tells me. I will seek my spiritual nourishment in my own relationship with Baha’u’llah and reading many of the wonderful spiritual books now available to the entire world on Amazon with family and friends and new chance meetings with seekers manifesting “independent investigation of truth”. I preach the powers of the New World Age. Not the embarrassing controlling and intrusive oppression of the present Administrative Order of the Baha’i Faith. I have now learned about putting up boundries in life for spiritual protection.

There is a line from the film “Boys ‘N the Hood” that really says it all. I wish I had learned it far earlier in life to employ in all areas of life: “Never give your respect to people who do not respect you.”

The souls currently in their Positions-For-Life never ending lifetime employment at the top of the Baha’i Faith DO NOT respect the lives of the rank and file. This will become more and more apparnet every day as their frenzy starts to manifest spectacular failure. Will they be truth tellers or liars as the moment of truthcomes? Only time will tell.

Thank you for your prayers. I shall remember you and your family in prayer also.
