Within a faith based system, almost anything can be explained as a test. For individuals and families willing to accept these explanations, the rewards are great — community, family ties and a feeling of salvation. But is this solution to human happiness scalable?

The Baha’i leaders feel they must defend their faith as if it were perfect, because – I suppose – they believe it is. Any perceived flaw is a test to them and to most of the Baha’is, I guess.

It seems to me that this is in itself a fatal flaw. If a system is so closed that it can’t recognize its own flaws, how can it correct them? How can it change as the times indicate?

I’d like to read any ideas on this that aren’t simply a repetition of the party line.
