I guess I’m trying to understand your point in publishing the comic. Certainly it’s a valid indictment of how religion is often practiced, with its appeals to fear and self-benefit, and we Baha’is need to take the lead in speaking out against such practices. However, I’m also wondering if you are saying something about how many Baha’is practice their spirituality as well. In eihter case I’d like to hear some further elaboration.
Steve,
did Van Gogh write an essay explaining his art? did Picasso? Monet? Don’t get me wrong, I welcome your thoughts but no one can offer an official elaboration or explanation. That would take the fun out of it
Dude, nothing wrong with a joke. Baquia’s explanation is fine with me. My point is that what the communicator intends to say and what is heard by others are two different things. Some fanatical member of our faith might jump all over this and say, “Look at that cartoon–he really is a covenant-breakerrrrrrrrrr,” and so my intention was to actually help Baquia clarify what his intention was.
Here is a link with Baha’i comics:

Steve,
Do you always provide explanatory footnotes or disclaimers before or after a joke?
