Hi White Hanky,

You write:

"A myth is a religion that no one any longer believes."
- James Fiebleman

That was a common mindset in popular academic thought before the 1969 classic "Hamlet's Mill: An Essay Investigating the Origins of Human Knowledge And Its Transmission Through Myth" by Giorgio De Santillana from M.I.T. and Hertha Von Dechend from the University of Frankfurt.

I honestly believe they make their case for their astounding breakthrough theory that <a href="http://www.amazon.com/Hamlets-Mill-Investigating-Knowledge-Transmission/dp/0879232153">ALL MYTH IN HUMAN HISTORY IS ASTRONOMY</a>.

We may also have to come to grips with the theory in their book that what has come down to us over the last 2,000 years through the so called "religious" systems of the Middle East such as Judaism, Chistianity, and Islam is a profoundly corrupted and garbled transmission of a much more profound system of spiritual consciousness of the Cosmos behind these systems. In fact, I feel we can also make the case that the last 2,000 years on this planet has been one of the most dumbed down and spiritually illiterate periods of human consciousness in the long and ancient history of mankind. The present hapless condition of the world certainly supports this possible insight on a daily basis. People who blow themselves up in the name of their "God" killing as many other people as possible just doesn't seem to me to be an example of profound cosmic insight on anything whatsoever.

To this above system of esoteric insight I would also add the works of Schwaller de Lubicz. I have only recently discovered this body of work myself. His primary work <a href="http://www.amazon.com/Temple-Man-R-Schwaller-Lubicz/dp/0892815701">"The Temple of Man"</a> on the Egyptian Temple of Luxor was written over 50 years ago but is only now just being discovered by many people. I believe one of the reasons for this only being discovered now is that it was only translated from the French into English in 1998. I believe this book is going to be huge among thinking and searching spiritually minded people in the 21st Century.

I would think these students doing this blog would learn far more about spirituality by joining the Armed Forces of the United States and being sent into harms way in Iraq to face death hourly in a war that has led to unprecedented calamity and personal catastrophe for many souls. They would certainly learn much more about the so called "religions" of the Middle East and the zero level of spirituality of the people who "practice" them. Besides fasting, praying, not drinking alcohol, and not gambling they should also put completing the Ruhi Full Sequence of Courses on their list to learn about the zero level of spirituality in the current version of the micro managed dumbed down mindless straight jacketed automaton Baha'i Faith.

But I wish them well on their project. At least they are doing something positive with their lives for at least a year.
