Renovation of the Shrine of the Bab Complete

The comprehensive restoration work of the Shrine of the Bab has been finished ahead of schedule. The total cost of the project was $6 million USD.

You can view pictures of the ongoing restoration of the Shrine here as well as a slideshow of the original building construction.

The restoration was cosmetic as well as structural. The structural additions reinforced the structure from top to bottom to be able to withstand an earthquake. The cosmetic changes were myriad. The most visible change was the installation of new tiles atop the famous golden dome of the building.

As with the other buildings on Mount Carmel, the harsh Haifa air, heavily laden with corrosive salt and other chemicals from the refinery and industrial complexes in the Haifa bay area had damaged the golden glazing of the tiles at the top of the Shrine.

The official press release from the Baha’i News Service includes this about the cause of the restoration:

More than 50 years of exposure to Haifa’s climate and environmental conditions had taken their toll on the superstructure’s stonework and dome…

According to Mr. Saeid Samadi, the architect and project leader based out of California, the new gold glazed tiles sourced from Portugal are manufactured to be able to withstand the harsh conditions of the Haifa bay. His estimation is that they will last from 200 to 300 years.

Below is a slideshow of the unveiling and the newly restored building:

As well as being a holy site for Baha’is, the Shrine of the Bab is a major tourist attraction and a designated world heritage site by UNESCO.

Seyyed Ali Muhammad in his pilgrimage to Mecca kissed the Hajarulaswad or not? any clarification is highly appreciated

Interesting question Carlo. I’d also like to know if that is legitimate Islamic prophecy.
The renovation is spectacular. Its like a king has had his crown re polished. The city of Haifa appreciates the BWC and the Baha’is.

    Good Day Baquia,
I don’t know if you or some other friend can clarify.

Persian bayan Wahid 11 Bab 17.

”Of he Whom God shall manifest shall appear in the name of Ghiyath and all shall enter in . not one shall remain inthe fire.If he tarry until Mustaghath all shall enter in….”

Persian Bayan Wahid 111 Bab 15.
”None knoweth the time the Manifestation save God.Whenever it takes place, all must render thanks to God, Although it is hoped of His grace will come ere the number of Mustaghath and will raise up the words of God.

The second tablet to Him Who will Be Made Manifest.
And though no doubt is there about it,do thou grant a respite of 19 years as a token of Thy favor so that those who have embraced this Cause may be graciously rewarded by Thee….

The construction of  Bahai Faith lie entirely on Bab’s teaching, so i personally believe it would have been the least effort the UHJ could have done to make the Book BAYAN available to all.

Or may be to veiled the truth it must be kept concealed.

    Lot Of Thanks.

Desir, the Bab’s writings included veiled references to the importance of the year 9 and 19 (if we start on 1844 and calculate based on lunar years: 1852 and 1863) but there were myriad mentions that “Him Whom God will make manifest” where the Bab gives precedence to the next Revelation and exhorts Babis to give priority to the next prophet:

“We have planted the Garden of the Bayan in the name of Him Whom God will make manifest, and have granted you permission to live therein until the time of His manifestation; then from the moment the Cause of Him Whom God will make manifest is inaugurated, We forbid you all the things ye hold as your own, unless ye may, by the leave of your Lord, be able to regain possession thereof.”

“…not your recognition become fruitless, inasmuch as the Bayan, notwithstanding the sublimity of its station, beareth fealty to Him Whom God shall make manifest, and it is He Who beseemeth most to be acclaimed as the Seat of divine Reality, though indeed He is I and I am He. However, when the Tree of the Bayan attaineth its highest development, We shall bend it low as a token of adoration towards its Lord Who will appear in the person of Him Whom God shall make manifest. Perchance ye may be privileged to glorify God as it befitteth His august Self.”

The Bab spoke in a mystical and dense language. I’ve heard good things about this book, although I haven’t read it myself yet: Gate of the Heart byNader Saiedi

    Hi Baquia,
I did not know which came first the Bayan quote above or the Selected quote from Bab’s writings.
If the former (Bayan) is first, means that Bab are predicting the apparition of the Manifestation in a distant future Ref. to Ghiyath and mustaghath)
And ref . to the second quote He did not know save God.

But in the second tablet He specify the 19 years following 1844 when the next manifestation will appear.(1863)

    Which is which/>

Some says that previous religious history are unreliable and unconform due to ancientness.
But the babi/bahai ones has approx. 150 years how remarkably the history are distorted, unconformed and contradicted among the many chronicles and publications.

    Hope you will assist.

    Thanks.

    Mr. Azal.

I would request you give an explanation on below as you are well verse in the  subject.
Persian bayan Wahid 11 Bab 17.

”Of he Whom God shall manifest
shall appear in the name of Ghiyath and all shall enter in . not one
shall remain in the fire.If he tarry until Mustaghath all shall enter
    in….”

Persian Bayan Wahid 111 Bab 15.
    ”None knoweth the
time the Manifestation save God.Whenever it takes place, all must render
thanks to God, Although it is hoped of His grace will come ere the
number of Mustaghath and will raise up the words of God.

The second tablet in the Selection Writings of BAB to Him Who will Be Made Manifest.
    ”And
though no doubt is there about it,do thou grant a respite of 19 years
as a token of Thy favor so that those who have embraced this Cause may
    be graciously rewarded by Thee….”

My question is did the latter came after or before the penned down of the above quoted Wahid.

    Lot Of Thanks.

  • Wahid Azal

Firstly, these two quotes are from Unity (wahed/chapter) 2, Gate (bab/section) 17 and Unity (wahed) 3, Gate (bab) 15 respectively. Unity 11 of the Persian Bayan is by Subh-i-Azal. There is no Wahed (unity) 111.  The Persian Bayan presently contains 11 Unities (waheds/chapters) in total. The Bab wrote up to the 10th gate (bab/section) of the 9th Unity (wahed/chapter) of the Persian Bayan. Subh-i-Azal continued it from Gate 11 of Unity 9 to the end of Unity 11 (i.e. gate 19). The whole of the Persian and Arabic Bayans are to contain 19 unities consisting of 19 gates each. 152 gates (abwab) and 8 unities (wahed/chapters) still remain to be written. Unity 2 comes before Unity 3.

    The quotes again:

    If
He whom God shall make Manifest appears in the number gh?y??th [= 1511] and all
enter therein, none shall remain in the fire [of rejection]. If it
lingers till [the number] mustagh??th [= 2001], all shall
enter therein, and none shall remain in the fire [of rejection], as all
shall be transfigurated into his Light…,? (my trans.)…?None knoweth the time of the manifestation other than God. Whensoever
it shall take place, all must testify to its truth and give thanks unto God,
although by His gracious bounty it is hoped that He will appear till the time
of mustagh??th [=2001] wherein the word of God may be elevated.
And the Proof is the sign, for His very being proves Him, whilst He cannot be
known by what is beneath His rank. Glory be to God above what is attributed to
    Him? (my trans.)

It means exactly what it says. Elsewhere in the Persian Bayan the Primal Point is explicit in that until a Tree reaches its maturity it will not bear its fruit; meaning, until the gnostic religion of the Bayan reaches its evolutionary maturity and a considerable period of time has transpired, just like any other dispensation, the Promised One (ma’ud) of the Bayan will not appear. As such the claim of Mirza Husayn ‘Ali Nuri to be being the Promised One of the Bayan is categorically false. It is even more so false since Subh-i-Azal was appointed as the Mirror (mir’at) of the Point (nuqta), and his position to the Point of the Bayan is as the position of ‘Ali to Muhammad in Islam. Furthermore, by the same principle that the Point of the Bayan claimed to be the return of ‘Ali in the station of Muhammad – i.e. that the wasi/executor and wali/providential guide has returned in the rank of messengership as the manifestation of the Primal Will – for the same reason the Promised One of the Bayan will be the return of Subh-i-Azal in the Bayan’s final consummation.

Moreover in the Book of the Five Grades (kitab panj sha’n), p. 176 (lithographed edition, Tehran, n.d.), the Primal Point states to Qurrat’ul-‘Ayn, “Say, verily God will manifest He whom God shall make Manifest just like He manifested Muhammad the Messenger of God like before. And He manifested ‘Ali before Muhammad afterwards as He desired by His command. Verily He is powerful over all things!”

This Book is among the final works of the Point of the Bayan, and He is explicit that the mode and manner of the Manifestation of man yuzhiruhu’Llah/He whom God shall make Manifest will be like that of Muhammad (pbuh). This means a very specific thing to an ear from an Islamic culture. It means the Promised One of the Bayan will manifest amongst a corrupt people much like the pagan idolators of Mecca during the time of the Prophet of Islam. His ministry will be like the Prophet Muhammad’s (pbuh). His worst enemies will most likely come from within His own extended family just like Muhammad’s (pbuh) did from the Quraysh. Given the context and given what has transpired in these 148 years, the enemies of He whom God shall make Manifest, the True Promised One of the Bayan, will be none other than the Baha’is. It is interesting that this statement by the Point of the Bayan is made to Qurrat’ul-‘Ayn in the section of the Work where He is permutating the Divine Name Baha’ (splendor) which was the divine name of Qurra’t’ul-‘Ayn as well as the title Shajarat’ul-Baha’ (the Tree of Splendor) as She was deemed the return of Fatima Zahra’ and hence the manifestation of the Tree of Splendor..

  • Wahid Azal

Baquia, could you quote and link to the original language writings where, according to you, the Bab “…gives veiled references to the importance of the year 9 and 19″ as the date of the manifestation of the Promised One of the Bayan? Thanks. You are more than welcome to avail yourself of the text uploaded on Bayanic.com in locating evidence for your claim.

Nader Saeidi’s Gate of the Heart is an apologetic piece of shameless Bahai propaganda. I have a PDF of this thing. You are welcome to a copy.

  • Desir0101

    Mr Azal.
I deeply appreciate your response. Thanks,

Sorry if I insist. So according to you this Writings below quoted is a forgery.

Selections From the Writings of the B??b

The second tablet in the Selection Writings of BAB to Him Who will Be Made Manifest.
    ”And
though no doubt is there about it,do thou grant a respite of 19 years
as a token of Thy favor so that those who have embraced this Cause may
    be graciously rewarded by Thee….”
    Thanks.

  • Wahid Azal

No, the Tablet is not a forgery and the original and typescript was reproduced by the Bayani community in the publication *Qismati az Alvah-e-Khatt-e-Nuqta-e-Ula va Aqa Husayn-e-Katib/Portions of the Writings of the Primal Point and Aqa Husayn the Scribe*, p. 20 http://bayanic.com/showPict.php?id=some&ref=31&err=0&curr=31. But the context of the Tablet is not how Mr Taherzadeh would have one believe and he has deliberately misled and deceived with his translation because just before the line you quote the Primal Point clearly states,

“And I say that where you to cut off [from faith’ or]/dismiss in the Next Resurrection all who are in the Bayan with a [single] indication of Thy hand at the moment when Ye are suckling milk from Thy mother’s breast, Ye are to be praised in Thy indication for there is no doubt about it….”

Correct me if I’m wrong, but Mirza Husayn ‘Ali Nuri was not suckling milk from his mother’s breast in 1844 at the beginning of the Revelation of the Bayan. He was two years older than the Primal Point. In the utter intellectual dishonesty that are Baha’i translations of the works of the Primal Point, this key passage has been conveniently left out. Clearly in this Tablet to the Promised One of the Bayan the Primal Point does not conceive the Manifestation to be imminent. The context of the 19 years He refers to in the passage following it is referring to a period long after His own time.

  • Wahid Azal

Any pilgrim who got close enough to hold the black cloth (kiswa) of the Ka’ba would have also kissed the hajara’t’ul-aswad (the Black Stone) as well. So the answer is, yes, He did.

    Mr Azal.

In this tanslation the word “”Shoulst” appear to be conditional on such
     event will happen or not.

‘I, indeed, beg to address Him Whom God shall make
manifest, by Thy leave in these words: ?Shouldst Thou
dismiss the entire company of the followers of the
Bay??n in the Day of the Latter Resurrection by a mere
sign of Thy finger even while still a suckling babe, Thou
    wouldst indeed
be praised in Thy indication. And though
no doubt is there about it, do Thou grant a respite of
nineteen years as a token of Thy favour so that those who
have embraced this Cause may be graciously rewarded by
    Thee”

I will look for someone to translate The original at page 20.

  • Wahid Azal

The conditional is the conjunction *law* (lam waw) which means “if” that as a rule in Arabic grammar introduces a hypothetical and conditional clause. In any case, the entire language and context of the Tablet in no way indicates imminent events, and any Arabist worth their salt – and not Bahai propagandists using the language to deceptively pursue their own whitewashed narratives – will tell you exactly the same thing.

According to what i learned up to now the Babi revelation is an independent
one. A major religion as compare to Christian, Muslim,Judaism and others.
It,s has never been questioned that the Babi religion should be reduced to silence and supplanted even if Baha proclaimed to be the Promised One.

If what so call Bayan or( Bayani) believers or whosoever wish to adhere to BAB’s teaching they are in their legitimate right and have the right to pilgrim to HAifA at the BAB’s shrine or wherever it’s found.
To deter a believer to accomplish his spiritual obligation I believe is not praiseworthy act .

The Bayanis regularly make pilgrimage to the site of the final remains of the Primal Point still buried in Iran. Baha’is may think whatever they wish and may continue to make pilgrimage to the final resting place of Mirza Abbas Bozorg Nuri on Mt Carmel thinking it is the Bab. We will not interfere with their delusions, although we do demand that one day this issue be exposed to the world that it is not the Bab who is buried in that cenotaph so-called shrine but Mirza Abbas Bozorg Nuri and his grandson Abbas Effendi who are.

What the Bayani community does however unequivocally demand is 1) the return of all the Bayani holy writings pilfered by the Baha’is and 2) all cessation of the anti-Bayani propaganda by the Baha’is as well as the monopolization of the Anglo-European Academy with their fictitious, re-imagined and conflated narratives regarding our religion.

  • Desir0101

Mr Azal have you any proof of what you advance.

  • Wahid Azal

Yes. Am I willing to share it publicly? No. But, let me ask you, what unassailable scientific proof do you Baha’is have that the body interred in that cenotaph so-called shrine on Mt Carmel is actually the Bab and not someone else? You don’t have it.

  • Desir0101

    Mr Azal,
No one can prove it scientifically.
By pure deduction I believe that it matter not wether the rest of BAB is here or there.
But since historical event brought forward by the Bahai  that the body
has been hidden and transfer for years till the final resting place nowadays seem more probable as you have nothing just to deny.

Abdulbaha I believe can be praised here.

  • Wahid Azal

On the contrary. We have both physical location as well as an unassailable collection of written testimonies by parties involved going back to the early 1850s showing beyond any doubt that the case put forth by the Baha’is is hollow, contrived, deceitful, deceptive and without any shred of credible foundation proving that the Bab is not buried in that cenotaph so-called shrine on Mount Carmel; but rather it it is Mirza Abbas Bozorg Nuri who is buried there. Seeing how both testimony and evidence exists for elaborate methods the Bahais have employed throughout the decades for concocting false evidence, manufactured testimonies and perpetrating outright lies and deception, in any impartial setting where the Bahais don’t get to censor and silence voices, we are pretty confident we can prove once and for all that the whole Baha’i narrative regarding the final burial place of the Bab as being on Mount Carmel to be a complete lie and that the final remains of the Bab still remain in Iran where they have been since 1850.

  • Desir0101

    Mr Azal Said
‘we are pretty confident we can prove once and for all that the whole
Baha’i narrative regarding the final burial place of the Bab as being on
Mount Carmel to be a complete lie and that the final remains of the Bab
still remain in Iran where they have been since 1850.”

If you can prove it will revolutionize and shake the very foundation of the whole concept of the Bahai world.

    What are you waiting?

  • Wahid Azal

For a friendly regime in Iran and a situation where the Baha’is won’t be calling any shots.

  • Desir0101

Are you really pitying the Bahais.?

If so is the case, praise be to you.

Or  the contrary you have nothing in hand to ascertain your saying.

True or false each ones day is fast approaching to face the ultimate reality.

    Thanks Mr.Azal.

  • Wahid Azal

Or, rather, a well-deserved and long time coming Divine Justice on their heads.

I have in hand quite a bit to prove my assertion about the fact that the Bab’s final remains are not in Haifa. Prima facie evidence, actually.
